Infrastructure branch Making all the difference

2009

In June 2009, the Tamarins Road opened to traffic on Reunion Island.

This new highway runs for almost 34 km, ensuring high-speed travel between Saint Paul and Étang Salé and providing a development lifeline for the "Les Hauts" hillside areas between the coast and the highest part  of the island, previously cut off by Reunion's many ravines.

Our teams carried out more than half of the construction work comprising earthworks, road surfacing and engineering structures. These included the Trois Bassins Ravine, Grande Ravine and Saint Paul Viaducts, the last of which has been renamed Bernica Viaduct and supplied with a cut-and-cover trench.
